TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF | How to INTRODUCE YOURSELF in a JOB INTERVIEW | (SEAT METHOD) BEST ANSWER! / 告诉我关于你自己的事 | 如何在求职面试中介绍自己 | (座位法)最佳答案!
In this video, I am going to teach you how
to answer the first interview question,
tell me about yourself. So, we know right at the
beginning of a job interview, the hiring manager
will say to you: “Welcome to the interview.
Tell me about yourself.” Now, this is one
of the hardest interview questions to answer
because most people have no idea what to say.
They start rambling on about their life story.
That is not the way to answer this question. So,
in this video, I will teach you a really cool
way to answer the Tell Me About Yourself question
that will score highly with the Hiring Manager.
So, if you have a job interview coming up soon,
make sure you stay tuned. Okay, Let’s get into
the presentation. Okay. Now, when you answer
the first question, tell me about yourself,
I want you to talk about four things. Now,
these four things will definitely impress
the hiring manager. And to help you remember
what these four things are in your answer. I’m
going to draw a simple image on the screen. Now,
this image is going to help you easily
remember what it is you need to say in
your answer to that question: Tell Me About
Yourself. So, as you can see, this is a
seat (S.E.A.T) and you are going to be sitting
down on a SEAT at your interview, whether it’s
an in-person, face-to-face interview or an online
interview, you will be sitting down on a SEAT. So,
remember that at the start of your interview,
when they say to you: Tell me about yourself.
All you have to remember is seat (S.E.A.T.) So,
in the next part of this lesson, I will explain
what each of those four things are. Let’s go.
So, let’s now take a look at our SEAT structure
for Tell Me About Yourself. Now, the first thing
you are going to talk about in your answer is the
SKILLS you have that match the job description. In
a second, I’ll tell you what the best skills are
for all job interviews, but that’s the first thing
you are going to talk about as part of the SEAT
structure. So, at the beginning of your answer,
I recommend you say this: “Thank you for giving
me the opportunity to interview for this position
with your company. I have the skills to match the
job description.” And then you will explain what
those skills are. Now, there are three skills that
are perfect for all job interviews. Here they are.
Okay, so here are the three best skills to use
when answering: Tell me about yourself. Now, the
first one is a skill that not many people have.
And that skill is problem-solving. So, you can
say that you are a good problem solver, someone
who takes the lead during difficult challenges.
The second great skill is communication. So,
this means that you are a good communicator, a
professional communicator when interacting with
people, interacting with customers, sending
emails, and also speaking on the telephone.
Skill number one, problem-solving, skill number
two, communication and skill number three is a
brilliant one, and this is a collaborator. So if
you are a collaborator, it means that you work
closely with the people in your team to achieve
the company’s objectives. So those are the three
SKILLS I recommend you give when answering the
question: Tell me about yourself. Let’s now move
on to the second part of our answer which is E.
So, the second part of our SEAT structure is E. E
stands for Education and Experience. So, you will
briefly mention the Educational Qualifications you
have. And then talk about briefly the Experience
you can bring to their company. And there’s
two great experiences to mention in your answer.
Let me tell you what those are. So the first
one is WORKING ON TEAMS. And the second one, the
second great experience to mention is delivering
on TIME-SENSITIVE PROJECTS. And very soon, I’m
going to give you a brilliant answer that teaches
you how to talk about your Education background
and your Experience. Let’s now move on to the
third thing to talk about in your answer to the
question, tell me about yourself. And that is A.
Okay. So we have now covered skills, education
and experience as part of our SEAT structure.
We’re now going to talk about A and A stands for
ACHIEVEMENTS. Now, I want you, in your answer,
just to talk about one achievement. Now, that
achievement can come from either your personal
life or a previous job role. So just talk about
one of them. You can say: “I am a high achiever.
For example, in my last job, I won Employee
of the Month.” Or you could say: “I received
praise from my manager for my flexibility with my
job description.” So when you say you are a high
achiever that tells the hiring manager you are
going to replicate the same success in the role
for their company. Let’s now move on to the final
part of our answer to tell me about yourself using
the SEAT structure, and that is T. So T stands
for, write this down, the TYPE OF PERSON YOU ARE.
So, you can say at the end of your answer: “I
am the type of person who takes responsibility
for difficult challenges and will always act
as a positive role model for the company and
will always take ownership of my professional
development to ensure I always ADD VALUE to my
team.” So, we’ve now covered the four things you
need to talk about when answering the question:
Tell me about yourself. And those are: Skills,
Education and Experience, your Achievements and
the Type of person you are. So let me now put all
of this together in a brilliant example answer
to the question, Tell me about yourself. And
then what we’ll do is return to the screen and
I will give you some really important tips for
making sure your answer flows. So here is the
great answer that includes all of this. Write this
down. Okay, so here is a brilliant example answer
to that first interview question: Tell me about
yourself that uses my SEAT structure. S.E.A.T.
Please make sure you write this down. Here we
go. “Thank you for this opportunity to work for
(INSERT THE COMPANY’S NAME.) I have the skills
to match the job description. I am a confident
problem solver and a good communicator and always
collaborate closely with coworkers to achieve the
team’s objectives. I graduated from college with
excellent grades in my chosen subjects. I have
experience working on small and large teams and
delivering on time-sensitive projects. I am a high
achiever. In my last position, I won an Employee
of the Month and was praised by my manager for
my flexibility with my job description and how I
brought creative ideas to the team. If you hire
me, I will be the type of employee who takes
ownership of their professional development,
takes the lead during challenges and acts
as a positive role model for your company.
I look forward to sharing additional details in
the interview regarding my suitability for this
position. So that is a really good example answer
that uses my SEAT method as a structure. Don’t
forget, write it down and practice it before your
interview. Okay, so that was a brilliant example
answer the uses the SEAT structure. Let me now
give you, and please make sure you write these
down, 3 very important tips for giving a confident
answer So, these tips will make sure your answer
flows and they will also help you demonstrate
really good communication skills. So the first
tip for answering, tell me about yourself, to
make sure your answer flows is to practice. Now,
this is going to be the first question you will
have to answer, so practice it before you go to
your interview. Now, I recommend you either
practice your answer sitting in front of a
friend or relative. Or, you can just sit down
on your SEAT in front of a mirror. And that’s
a really good way to practice your answer. So,
you know, you’re going to go to the interview
and they will say, Tell me about yourself. If
you’ve already practiced it several times, you
can give the perfect response. So tip number two
for giving a confident answer is to make sure, and
this is really important, that you maintain EYE
CONTACT when giving your answer. This is important
because it demonstrates confidence and again, good
communication skills. So, when you’re giving your
answer, look the interviewer in the eyes, Okay,
you’re not going to stare them out aggressively,
but just look them in the eyes when you are giving
your answer. It’s really important. Because if you
look away or look out of the window, it doesn’t
show good communication skills or confidence. So,
number one, practice your answer. And number two,
make sure you maintain eye contact. Let’s move on
to tip number three. Now, lots of people say to
me on this channel, Richard, how long should my
answer be to the question, Tell me about yourself?
Now, don’t forget the interviewer has the rest of
the interview to ask you different questions,
so you don’t have to give a long, overly long
answer to the question, Tell me about yourself.
I recommend your answer Is this long. 60 seconds!
Approximately 60s in duration. That is enough
time to talk about those four things. Skills.
Education and Experience. Accomplishments, and the
Type of person you are. So, in this next part of
